Ko Talu Travel– Talu Island – a small wonderful island near Hua Hin
Talu Island is a small wonderful Thailand island located a couple of hours drive from the famous resort town, Hua Hin. The meaning of Ko Talu is “a hole you can look through/ path through” – as you can clearly see on the picture.
The island is located in Prachuab Khiri Khan province, where the famous resort town of Hua Hin is located as well as the Pala-U water falls, (with their 15 stairs), which are situated in Thailand’s biggest nature reserve, Kaeng Krachan, and many other great sites to visit such as the beautiful Ao Manao bay.
Ko Talu travel island is located in Bang Saphan district about 9 Km. from the coast line so cruising to it takes only 30 minutes on a boat or 10 minutes on a speed boat.
As you can see from the pictures and video the island is simply a paradise, It has magnificent clear turquoise waters, soft white sandy beaches and an amazing rain forest.
What turns this lovely island (Ko Talu) into an ideal target for anyone travelling to central Thailand is its relatively short distance from Bangkok – only 4 hour drive, from Amphawa – only 3 hour drive and from Hua Hin only a couple of hours.
Ko Talu offers a great alternative to those of you who do not want to waste time and money on the long way to Ko Surin and Ko Similan – the two best and most famous groups of islands for snorkeling and scuba diving in Thailand.
There are scuba diving and snorkeling sites near Ko Talu. The clear sea waters and the relatively shallow coral reef allows even inexperienced diver to enjoy snorkeling. It’s also great for anyone who prefers snorkeling to scuba diving.
Personally, I did not dive at Ko Talu, as I planned to dive at Ko Surin and Ko Similan, but the picture taken from the boat, speaks for itself and shows the abundance of fish there.
To those of you who prefer only snorkeling without overnight stay on the island, there are many resorts on the beach across from Ko Talu island which will be happy to take you for a small fee to the nearby snorkeling site.
If you are interested in scuba diving – you will find all you need on the Ko Talu island – professional diving guides, the needed equipment, etc. additional information about scuba diving near the island can be found on this website.
On Ko Talu island there is a great resort with good bungalows, well equipped with air conditioning, mini bars, great view of the sea from the patio, etc. and everything is surrounded by a beautiful garden.
Apart from sunbathing, swimming, snorkeling and enjoying the soft white sandy beach you can also enjoy sail boats and kayaks on the island as well as night fishing.
It is important to know that Ko Talu is a privately owned island, it belongs to a young man who owns the only resort on the island, so it is not possible to come to the island without advance booking.
As I wrote, if you are only interested in snorkeling without overnight stay on the island, you can easily get there from Hua Hin – it is approximately 2 hour drive.
As Amphawa and Hua Hin become more and more popular with tourists these days, and because of the island’s quality and charm, and since the best time to visit the island is during the summer month when many tourists come to Thailand, I have decided to include Ko Talu in the tours and deals offered on TipTop Travel website.
It is possible to include Ko Talu in your Thailand Family Adventure tour of Hua Hin area or in the ultimate south Thailand tour with TipTop Travel Private Family Adventure Tours (Coast to Coast tour).
As always, here is a short video for you – Enjoy!
